Advisory for All Applicants to Graduate Programs for Academic Year 2019-2020


The entrance examination for admission to the Graduate Programs (MA, PhD, and MDE) is scheduled on 4 May 2019, 9am-12 noon, at the UP School of Economics in UP Diliman.

The entrance test is designed to broadly assess the applicant’s verbal and quantitative reasoning skills and his/her ability to think critically and write analytically. The 3-hour test will have three parts: (a) reading comprehension; (b) quantitative reasoning; and (c) analytical writing.

Applicant interviews with members of the Graduate Admissions Committee will be on 6 and 7 May, 2019, at 9am-12 noon and 1-4 pm, at the UP School of Economics. Assigned time slots will be distributed on the day of the exam.

Advisory: Starting AY 2018-2019, UPSE will be accepting applicants to the MDE full-time (day) program ONLY. Evening classes, however, will be open for continuing MDE students.

The UP School of Economics offers courses leading to the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (Economics), Master of Arts (Economics), and Master in Development Economics (MDE). These programs are designed to provide future economists in academe, government, industry, non-governmental and international organizations with rigorous training in the methods and applications of economic analysis.

1. An application fee of PhP 1,000 (US $40 for foreign applicants) is required for processing of the application. You may deposit your payment to:

2. Upon payment, please do one of the following:

a) attach the scanned deposit slip (with your name on it) to your online application (you will be asked to do so when you fill out the online form)
b) send us an email attachment a copy of the deposit slip to graduate@econ.upd.edu.ph
c) send your deposit slip by fax to (632) 920-5460 or (632) 920-5463

Only applications with confirmed payments will be considered. You may check with the graduate office if payment was received.
